My Story

This week, on the blog, I'm telling you my story: why and how I got into business, my future projects, and what's next for me.

Not being much of a social networker, I wanted to share my journey with you.

How it all began:

Before taking the plunge, I worked as a secretary. At the same time, in 2008, I trained as a nail technician, at first like everyone else, to supplement my income. it became clear to me that I'd found my calling.

Contract over, I'm off on this adventure that gives me this spirit of independence.

And YES, like everyone else, I started out as a home mechanic and then set up a room in my house.

In 2010, I took part in an eyelash extension training course (I must admit that after the course, I wasn't really sure I wanted to continue in this direction). With practice and perseverance, I loved it!!!!!!! and that's how it all started!

Roxils:

Always on the lookout for something new, I can still see myself looking for an idea, the idea that would allow me to evolve even further.

And in 2014 the idea of creating the Roxils brand came to mind!

Why? the difficulty of sourcing quality eyelash extensions without paying exorbitant prices. I used to get my supplies in France or Holland, which wasn't easy to manage, so I thought of a few things that would make my work easier, but also make it easier for everyone else in my situation (and that's how Roxils was born:
1 person and 1 idea.

I then tested several products, having already been in the business since 2010, I knew the products well and what I was looking for for my customers, I knew that others would too.

So I worked for months on this project, with the help of my mom and my brother on the computer side. Then, little by little, Roxils became a success.

The brand has been around for 4 years now, and thanks to all the people who have placed their trust in us, we're still evolving and looking for the best products at competitive prices.

Now, in 2019, Roxils has expanded - we have several distributors, several product ranges that touch on the look and the skin.

What difficulties do I encounter?

As a small company, it's hard to keep up with the international competition, but Roxils has more than one eyelash in its bag!

WITH OVER 150 PRODUCTS, it's not always easy to manage production delays, but we always try to have as much stock available as possible.

My tips for getting started:

First of all, nothing is impossible when you're working, you just have to forget your pleasures to get where you want to be.

If you have a good product or a good service, success will come.

By this I mean that you can invest in the most beautiful institute in the world if you don't offer a good service or product, you won't last in the long term.

Be careful, but be daring, and above all, offer quality!

My future projects:

I've now decided to stop treating customers and devote myself solely to the evolution of the brand.

As some of you know, I've always dreamed of living in the sun, so I decided to spend a few months on the island of Jamaica to start the adventure all over again.

I'll post you some evolution pictures, wish me luck!

Of course Roxils continues in Belgium, with the whole team in Liège and the other sales outlets in Belgium.

The Russian Volume

If you've heard about it but are still skeptical, we can explain!

The "Russian Volume" technique originated in Russia around 2010. Over the years, this technique has evolved and adapted to its new clientele, becoming increasingly affordable.

Unlike the lash-by-lash technique, to obtain volume, we don't play with the thickness of the extension, but with the number of extensions on a lash. The extensions used are tailor-made for this service and are both very thin and very light.

By taking these fine, light extensions, which can vary from 0.04 to 0.10 instead of the traditional 0.15 to 0.30, we can deposit more on the natural lash (fanning or "bouqueting"). This will add volume without weighing down natural lashes.

When we speak of 2D technique, for example, this means that we used 2 lash extensions, 3D means 3 lash extensions, 4D means 4 lash extensions, and so on. This will give a lighter effect for 2D than for 9D.

Of course, the number of extensions needed to create the fan will depend on the nature of the natural lash. Avoid heavy volume on lashes that are already weakened.

The fans will be handmade one by one, using specially adapted pliers.

There are several techniques for making a fan:

  • Finger technique, wiggle technique, tap technique,...

There's also the so-called "hybrid" eyelash extension, a mixture of lash to lash and Russian volume, perfect for light volume, or if you have few natural lashes.

Tips for creating volume:

For your Volume Russe to be a success, first and foremost you need impeccable hygiene and quality equipment adapted to this technique.

Your pliers are the most important tool without good pliers, you won't get any results. It needs to be tight enough to grip these extra-thin extensions.

Glue dosage: if you use too much glue, you run the risk of your fan closing up as you lay it down. However, there's now an innovative product, a must for every lash artist, which prevents the fan from closing once it's applied to the natural lash,
FAN LIQUID
(https://www.roxils.com/fr/produits/395-fan-liquid.html)

The direction of your fans:

The transition between the different lengths of extensions, if you don't pay attention to this detail you risk getting a staircase effect and of course nobody wants that, just like with hair.

And above all... the more precise and identical your fans are, the more precise and perfect your work will be.

You'll need a lot of practice to comply with all these points.

There are no miracles.

Let's move on to the benefits:

  • First and foremost
    a

    wow effect

volume is multiplied, visible but still natural,
the fringe of lashes is more intense, eliminating the need for mascara, kohl or eyeliner.
  • Long-lasting results: lashes take longer to fall out thanks to 3 to 7 points of adhesion all around the lash.
  • Comfort: being much thinner, the Russian volume fibers are much lighter and quickly forgotten.
  • Helps avoid "panda eyes": humid weather, watery eyes, sweaty face, swimming pool, sauna, NO WORRIES! Volume extensions are impervious to water and humidity!

Disadvantages of eyelash extensions

Like lash-to-lash extension, Russian volume is suitable for all women except :

  • For those with eye problems
  • For those allergic to the glue used to apply lashes
  • For those who no longer have natural or very fragile lashes

This technique also requires appropriate maintenance, as with conventional extension installation.

Every morning, brush the extensions dry using a suitable brush, and avoid rubbing your eyes. Don't use products containing grease or oils, which are the glue's enemies. It's very important to clean these extensions with suitable products to avoid infections and poor hold.

All you need to know about Microneedling and Plasma treatments

MICRONEEDLING AND PLASMA

We're going to talk about microneedling and plasma! What is it??????

First, let me explain what microneedling is:

It is a treatment used ato resolve aging or scarring problems, using micro-needles. Each micro perforation made on the skin will send a message to the brain that is necessary to begin natural regeneration and the penetration of nourishing ingredients. Micro-perforations are made using a pen or permanent make-up machine and suitable needles: https://www.roxils.com/fr/pmu/112-machine-pmu.html

But why have a microneedling treatment and what does it involve?

Because it is used for :
1. Firm the skin
2. Acne, scars and healing
3. Improving fine lines and wrinkles
4. Reduction of dilated pores
5. Stretch mark reduction
6. Treats alopecia

In short, it boosts the action of anti-aging skin care products tenfold.

Results are visible after 24 hours and for several weeks. And best of all, it's suitable for all skin types, from fair to black! For optimum results, the treatment should be repeated 3 to 6 times, 10 to 14 days between each session.

How does a microneedling session work?

Before starting, your face must be cleansed with a sterilizing solution to prevent bacteria from penetrating the dermis when the pins are punctured. The beautician then takes the PMU machine and begins the treatment, which consists of several vertical and horizontal strokes over the entire face. The treatment lasts between 15 and 20 minutes. It ends with a skin cleansing with a special wipe and the application of a firming treatment.

There are risks of side effects, which are as follows: the treatment may provoke an allergic reaction in patients suffering from skin allergy to metal products, it may cause a rash, in the case of treatment for acne scars, the treated area will be red (as after a sunburn), pain during the procedure, transient erythema and edema, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

Are there any drawbacks to this treatment?

Treatment may cause :

  • An allergic reaction in patients with skin allergy to metallic products.
  • Skin rash, in the case of treatment for acne scars
  • The treated area will be red (as after a sunburn).
  • Pain during the procedure
  • Transient erythema and edema
  • Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

We also recommend not to proceed with treatment in the event of :

  • Skin diseases and suspicious spots
  • Burnt, irritated or inflamed skin
  • Skin infections and inflammation
  • Psoriasis and other chronic diseases
  • Actinic keratosis
  • Eczema
  • Herpes
  • Diabetes
  • Keloid scars
  • Moles and warts on the area to be treated
  • Active acne

What is the Plasma treatment?

Plasma Pen is the latest technology to help fight wrinkles, skin damage and certain skin complaints. A treatment based on the creation of a series of tiny points adjacent to the skin's tension lines, this process triggers an instant contraction and tightening of skin fibers to create a lifting, reshaping and rejuvenating effect.

The Plasma Pen: https: //www.roxils.com/fr/microneedling-plasma/192-plasma-traitement.html is a handy, portable device that uses a precise beam of plasma energy to sublimate the surface layer of the skin, without damaging underlying or adjacent tissue.

How does plasma pen treatment differ from microneedling?

The difference with this treatment is that it is used for :
1. Eyelid reconstruction.
2. Removing wrinkles around the mouth
3. Improves the appearance of many types of scars
4. Face and neck lift
5. Removing the tattoo
6. Skin imperfections

How does a plasma session work?

After consulting with a practitioner, he or she will take photos and have you sign a client form. The area is then cleaned and disinfected. An anaesthetic cream will be applied 30 minutes before the start. You may feel some discomfort and a sensation of heat, but the treatment will only last a few hours. 10 to 30 minutesdepending on the zone. Side effects are minimal.

Are there any drawbacks to this treatment?

It is advisable not to proceed with treatment for :

  • Very dark skin (risk of depigmentation or hyperpigmentation) type 5 and 6 ;
  • Pregnant and breast-feeding women;
  • Avoid treating the area to be treated if the skin is not in good condition.
  • Taking aspirin

After treatment, small crusts 0.2 mm in diameter will appear on the treated area for 5 days. The eyelid may be very swollen, with a tingling sensation and a burning, reddening sensation similar to sunburn. A cold compress can be applied.

A healing cream may be recommended and the customer can use foundation to cover the area. Effects will disappear within 7 to 10 days

Vegetable henna

WHAT IS A HENNE?

With henna, you can temporarily color your eyebrows in a natural and completely painless way to give them shape, without the need for pencils or powders.

Henna eyebrow dye is used to color the skin under the eyebrows. The aim is to cast a shadow or create an illusion of depth in the area, visually filling in any scattered hairs.

Henna is a natural plant dye made from a plant called hina or henna tree.

Results last from 5 to 14 days on the skin and up to 6 weeks on the hair.

It will appeal to your customers looking for a natural, inexpensive and skin-friendly solution.

What are the advantages of HENNE?

  • Inexpensive
  • Natural
  • Risk-free restructuring
  • Tints the skin unlike conventional dyes
  • No lotion required, just powder and water.
  • A wide choice of colors

How does it work?

  • First of all, you'll need to clean your eyebrows with the primer cleanser to degrease them.
  • Draw your eyebrow and define its contours
  • Mix Dyotics Eyebrow Henna with lukewarm tap water until an omogeneous paste is obtained.

Note:
if the dough is too runny, leave to rest for 5 minutes. The more water you add to henna and the longer you leave it on the skin, the harder it becomes.

Henna paste does not harden. Some henna-based products become very hard and therefore difficult to remove from the skin and hair. Dyotics eyebrow henna does not harden, making it easy to remove from the skin with a damp cotton bud.

Note
The more water you add to henna, and the longer you leave it on the skin, the harder it becomes.

CONTENTS OF A DYOTICS BROW SHADE

The five henna eyebrow colors, cleansing lotion and remover, plus two angled brushes and an eyebrow shaping cream. All these products are included in the Dyotics starter kit, priced at just €99 ex vat.

Here are a few tips to help your customers enjoy their perfect eyebrows for as long as possible,

because a happy customer is a loyal customer, as we discussed in the previous article (

https://urlz.fr/9RQT

) :

  • We recommend leaving the eyebrow henna to rest for 15 to 20 minutes; on very oily skin, a resting time of 25 to 30 minutes is recommended.
Sometimes 10 minutes is enough, especially if your client has very light, almost white hair. These hairs absorb the henna like a sponge, with a rather dark result. So be careful when working with these types of eyebrows.
  • There are many greasy creams and lotions that can be faded with henna. It is therefore important that the skin is thoroughly cleansed beforehand
    .

Dyotics skin preparation cleansing lotion is perfect for this purpose.
Thanks to the cleansing properties of tea tree oil and aloe vera, grease, dirt and make-up are gently removed: https: //www.roxils.com/fr/henna-brows/390-lotion-nettoyante-henna.html

  • If you have very dry skin in this area, we recommend exfoliating beforehand to remove all dead skin.
  • Blend the top of your eyebrow after 5 to 10 minutes to create a gradient.
  • Cleansing products, scrubs and peels are not recommended as long as the color is on the skin.
  • Caution: when spray tanning into the skin cells, there's a good chance that it will produce a yellow or green glow on the skin around the eyebrows. Therefore, advise your client not to use tanning at least two weeks before the henna treatment.
  • If your client's skin is very oily, it's not a good idea to use eyebrow henna, as it simply won't last.
  • Don't worry if the shade you choose seems too light for your customer. You can immediately apply another coat with a darker shade on top. Shades of Dyōtics and Supercilium can be mixed at any time. Use the beveled brush specially designed for Henna: https: //www.roxils.com/fr/henna-brows/386-HENNA_BROWS_TEINTURE_.html

Building customer loyalty

HOW AND WHY IS CUSTOMER LOYALTY IMPORTANT?

First of all, why build customer loyalty?

Customer loyalty is especially useful for increasing sales. Be careful never to dissatisfy a customer, as they may then rate you badly, and that's a threat, because users still use the Internet to find information. When researching your products and services, these potential customers may come across some unpleasant details about you. A satisfied customer is the best advertisement for your company.

ATTENTION this doesn't mean you have to accept them all, there must be rules to respect for the smooth running of your work.

But in the event of a misunderstanding, always try to find a solution as far as possible.

Every sales policy naturally includes a customer loyalty strategy, and we'll find out how with these tips:

  • TAKE THE TIME TO TRAIN:
When you're just starting out, make sure you take the time to practice so that you can offer your customers a good service of impeccable quality. Customers are easy to win over with promotional offers, but if the work is sloppy and of poor quality, they won't come back.

  • OFFER AN IRREPROACHABLE QUALITY OF SERVICE:
Your customers will only return if they are satisfied with the product or service, or if they have been able to obtain satisfaction following their request. A satisfied customer won't hesitate to recommend you to her friends and acquaintances. Show them that you care about quality by contacting them again at a later date, and periodically measure their satisfaction.

  • BUILDING TRUST:
A new customer is not necessarily a loyal customer. As beauty professionals, the first question you need to ask yourself is what else you could offer the customer to please her, to reassure her and to offer her a truly relaxing moment based on well-being. So it's important to create a warm atmosphere with your customer. Creating a climate where customers feel at ease and confident is also a way of building loyalty. Beyond your work, she'll also enjoy coming to see you.

  • THE IMPORTANCE OF SOCIAL NETWORKS:
Inviting your customers to communicate on social networks (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.) and on social recommendation sites (google, etc.) are innovative and solid solutions at a lower cost. Of course, implementing this type of communication to build customer loyalty takes time and a little personal investment, but it can quickly prove highly profitable in terms of image and sales.

  • Numerous other solutions exist for building customer loyalty
and maintain a privileged relationship with them, such as creating events, sponsorships, newsletters, mailings, loyalty cards, etc. If you want your customers to come back, be creative and renew yourself! Introduce new products or services as an excuse to get in touch with them and make them want to consume and/or come back to use your services.

One last word of advice: be patient! Respect the consumer's "time". Don't rush him by contacting him too quickly or too often. Give preference to spontaneous, unplanned contact to avoid stressing the customer.

You now have all the keys to building customer loyalty - it's up to you!

Irritation VS Allergies

UNDERSTANDING THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ALLERGIES AND IRRITATIONS.

First of all, what is an allergy?

It's the immune system's hypersensitivity to an antigen, generally foreign to thebody, which provokes an abnormal reaction and excessive defense of the body. An allergy is triggered by contact with a molecule known as an allergen .And the longer you remain in contact with this allergen, the stronger your reaction to it will be, and the worse it will become over time. Contact" allergies to cosmetics are common, affecting 2% of the European population.

Symptoms of an allergy include redness, swelling and pruritus.

Next, what is irritation?

The trickiest thing about irritation is that it's extremely difficult to distinguish it from allergies, as it often causes the same symptoms. Irritation is caused in particular by the use of cosmetics unsuited to the skin type. The reaction is immediate and limited to the area of contact, whereas in the case of allergy, it is delayed and extends far beyond.

It resembles an allergy, but one of the main distinctions is that irritation is generally short-lived: it disappears after around 24 hours and improves over time, unlike allergies.

Symptoms of irritation include tingling, tightness, burning and little or no pruritus.

Skin irritation promotes sensitization to an allergen, as the role of the skin barrier is diminished.

But how can you prevent and avoid this for your customers?

For an allergic reaction :

If your client is afraid of having an allergic reaction, suggest that she take an allergy test 48 hours before her appointment:

- Apply a small amount of the product to the crease of the elbow
- Watch for any reactions: first within a few minutes, then 1 hour later, and finally the next day, and even the day after that...

If 48 hours later all is well, it's likely that your customer is tolerating the product well!
What your client can also do if she thinks she's having an allergic reaction and it's not just a simple irritation, is to take an antihistamine. This will relieve his symptoms. It's also a great way to check for allergies. If the drug works, it's definitely a drug.

For irritation :

The best way to avoid irritation is to limit the amount of vapors to which you and your customers are exposed. Use the right techniques and follow all the necessary safety procedures to keep your customers healthy and safe!

What can a professional do to reduce the potential risks of irritation and allergies?

  • Know your environment. Each eyelash treatment room must be equipped with a thermometer, a hydrometer and a good ventilation system (to ensure the right level of humidity).
  • Know your products and their ingredients.
  • Carry out treatment in a clean, orderly environment, free from obstructions and distractions.
  • Measure the glue correctly
  • Isolate each lash and avoid clumping
  • Use a slightly damp brush to neutralize the glue if you don't have nano
  • Use a
    NANO MISTER ROXILS
which isa spray bottle that comes with a kit and a refill bottle. Itdries gluequickly andreduces irritation!

Lashlifing

LASH ENHANCEMENT OR LASHLIFTING

What is it?

Lashlifting, also known as eyelash enhancement, is a method of curling natural lashes using silicone pads and products. It gives the lashes a curved effect for 8 to 12 weeks, depending on the individual.

The benefits of eyelash enhancement:

  • Very low maintenance;
  • An enhanced look;
  • No need to use eyelash curlers;
  • Resistant to wind, heat and humidity.

That's why eyelash enhancement is a good competitor to eyelash extensions, for people who prefer less maintenance and more naturalness.

There are several types of eyelash enhancement, depending on the brand

  • Packaging: Pump, sachet or bottle.
  • Laying time: Laying time may vary from 5 to 15 minutes, depending on the product.
  • Color: Whitish cream or with dye for recognition.

Lashlifting is evolving with the times, with products becoming faster and more effective.

How does lashlifting work?

Lashlifting takes place in several stages:

1. Place the appropriate silicone on the eyelid;
2. Raise the lashes on the silicone;
3. Apply Lotion 1 to create the curve;
4. Apply lotion 2 to fix the curve;
5. Apply a nourishing serum.

You can then choose to apply :

  • Eyelash tinting to accentuate light lashes
  • A semi-permanent mascara that gives the mascara effect
  • A lashbotox for deep lash nourishment

Don't be fooled by products that curl the lashes or change their texture. There is no such thing as a risk-free product. That's why an upgrade requires a great deal of care and knowledge.

There are now deep treatments such as LASH BOTOX to deeply nourish the lashes.

THE LASHBOTOX

What is it?

ORGANIC LASH BOTOX, the most advanced care for your lashes! This treatment repairs broken and damaged eyelash fibers, thanks to powerful active concentrates such as black cumin, jojoba and keratin oils that guarantee hydration, repair and revitalize lashes from the very first use!

Results :

  • Curved lashes
  • Nourished lashes
  • Soft lashes
  • Shiny lashes

ROXILS OFFERS TWO LASHLIFT RANGES TO SUIT YOUR PREFERENCES:

Let’s talk about eyelash extensions…

Eyelash extensions can be a little confusing when you're just starting out.
The market is booming, and we find all kinds of eyelash extensions at different prices.

HOW TO FIND YOUR WAY AROUND?

First of all, we need to understand what we're buying.

You often hear about
SYNTHETIC,
SILK,
MINK
AND EVEN MINK (REAL MINK).

SUMMARY :
Synthetic extensions are the most economical eyelash extensions on the market.
They are made of acrylic and are quite hard. They are very black, shiny and look like plastic.

SILK AND FAUX MINK :
They are made from the same high-quality PBT synthetic polymer.
The difference is the method of treatment.
This treatment method results in finer, softer, more natural-looking lashes.

The difference between the two is mainly their weight, curvature and finish.

MINK lashes are often darker and less shiny, but this can vary from brand to brand.

I'VE BROKEN THE MYTH !!!!!
NO, silk lashes are not made of real silk, contrary to popular belief.

Now that you know that,

Let's talk about curves

Here's a small table of basic curvatures.
Every year, new curves are created, but are not necessarily used on a regular basis.

The choice of curvature will depend not only on the natural lash but also on the desired effect.
Every brand has its differences.

For example:
Our premium Cs are more curved than other brands ... so always compare before making your choice.

J curvature: one of the first curvatures on the market, less and less used in Europe.

Curvature B: the curvature being more natural, you'll get a natural effect, and it's easy to adapt thanks to its wide base.

C curves: these are the most commonly used, suitable for many lash types and giving a glamorous effect.

Curve D: will give a very glamorous effect, but will not be suitable for all lashes due to their strong curvature and therefore less attachment base.

Curvature L: this curvature has been specially designed for Asian eyes, i.e. stiff, drooping lashes to lift the look.
In 2019, they are used more and more, giving a magnificent CAT EYES effect.
Test PREMIUM L

There you go! Now you're ready to choose your extensions with confidence!

#teamroxils #lashgang

Glues … a few tips.

Glues are used to bond the extensions to the natural lashes,

That's why this product is so important to a lash artist.
There are many different types of glue on the market, and starting out can sometimes be a bit confusing.
Extension adhesives can be fast- or slow-drying, strong- or weak-hold, transparent or black, liquid or thicker.
Once you've chosen your strong glue, you're reassured and happy to have found THE glue, and yet sometimes this glue plays tricks on you.

Why?
I'm not a rocket scientist, but here are a few tips to help you understand your glues better.

There are three important factors for optimum efficiency:

The blend
Humidity
Conservation

First of all, always shake your glue, not just back and forth, but really shake it.
After leaving your glue untouched for several hours, the ingredients separated and fell out again. That's why it's very important to shake your glue for 2 min before starting your day, then shake it with every customer and even before every drop.
Test a drop if you find it looks odd. Keep shaking.

Then humidity
Humidity really does affect the effectiveness of your glue.
To constantly check the humidity in your room, simply buy a hygrometer.
In this way, you can correctly check the humidity in your room.
If you have too little humidity, your glue will take a long time to dry! So your appointment may take longer than expected.
On the other hand, if there's too much humidity in your room, your glue may dry too quickly and not have time to grip the natural lash properly, wasting your time by having to start all over again, or the extensions may fall out more quickly! (Don't forget extensions that come unstuck during the 1st brush stroke).
Once again, I insist on the humidity level in your room, which can vary from day to day or even hour to hour depending on your room temperature, ventilation and even the number of people in the room. Don't panic, there are a few easy rules to follow.

For rooms with too much humidity, invest in a dehumidifier.
Keep a small stock of glue (neither too much nor too little), perhaps not always the same glue, and one or two bottles of glue that dries more or less quickly, so that you have a spare solution in case of a glitch.
But above all, it' s important to know your glue in order to handle it correctly.
Last but not least, conservation...
It is important to protect your glues from changes in temperature and humidity.
It's best to store your glues in a vacuum box or sachet with silica gel.
Keep them away from radiators, windows and water points, and don't put them in the fridge. Avoid all temperature changes.
Above all, don't keep glue closed for too long. Fresh glue is always better, which is why we never have much glue in stock.
I hope this has helped you to better understand how to make your work even more perfect. #teamroxils
